Disease is a poetry anthology published in 2022 as a collaboration between Carnaval Press and sunseekers, an Instagram-based poetry editing platform. Bringing together around fifty contributors from the UK and abroad, the book includes both poets and visual artists and explores writing produced in response to illness, vulnerability, and the body.

“The last few years have seen the growing of medical humanities, an inter-disciplinary field of medicine which includes the humanities, social sciences, and the arts in application to medical education and practice. 

Poetry can help to communicate science, and poets can craft work into scientific cultures in many ways. The intersection between poetry and science was reflected by poets such as the objectivist Louis Zukofsky, who wrote that ‘felt deeply, poems like all things have the possibilities of elements whose isotopes are yet to be found. Light has travelled and so looked forward.’
